
Fri 2 Apr Join your guide for a walking tour of Dresden’s Old Town, rebuilt since 1945. We see the Theatre Square, the Zwinger Palace and the Royal Palace amongst other sites of note. Afternoon at leisure. Transfer by foot to the evening performance at the Semperoper.
Sat 3 Apr Morning at leisure for your choice of activity in Dresden. After an independent early lunch we set off for Eisenach, in the wooded countryside of Thüringia. On the way we visit the Wagner Museum in Graupa, the only former home of the composer in Eastern Germany which is open to the public. Arriving in Eisenach, check in at the 4-star Steigenberger Hotel Thüringer Hof, one of the oldest buildings in the historic Lutheran town. Evening at leisure.
Sun 4 Apr Today we take a walking tour of Eisenach, which boasts a wealth of museums and notable sites, including Bach’s House, Luther’s House and the market square. Lunch is included in a local restaurant. Transfer to Wartburg for a guided tour of the castle, the setting for Wagner’s Tannhäuser. Early evening performance in the festival hall at the Castle.
Mon 5 Apr Morning departure for Leipzig. Early afternoon arrival and check in at the 4-star Radisson Hotel Blu, across the road from the Opera. Afternoon at leisure to explore the city centre independently. In the evening enjoy an optional performance at the Opera, or perhaps take the opportunity to visit one of Leipzig’s many traditional restaurants.
Tue 6 Apr Morning at leisure. Lunchtime transfer from Leipzig to Berlin for your homeward flight.
